    Sebagian besar orang pasti

    Sebagian besar orang pasti berpendapat kalau persahabatan itu baik alias "friendship is sip!" Memiliki seorang sahabat sejati merupakan keinginan setiap orang. Terlepas dari pengalaman-pengalaman buruk kita tentang persahabatan, jauh di dalam lubuk hati, masing-masing kita pasti merindukan sosok sahabat baik yang dapat mewarnai hidup kita. Namun, rasanya tidak adil jika kita mengharapkan seorang sahabat yang baik, sementara kita sendiri tidak bisa menjadi sahabat yang baik. Seperti perkataan Salomo dalam kitab Amsal, "Orang yang tidak jujur menyebarkan pertengkaran, dan penggunjing memisahkan sahabat karib." (Amsal 16:28) Jadi, sebelum menuntut seseorang menjadi sahabat yang baik buat kita, apakah selama ini kita sudah menjadi sahabat yang baik buat mereka?

    Model Persahabatan yang Sempurna

    Model persahabatan yang sempurna sebenarnya bisa kita temukan dari awal manusia diciptakan. Sejak awal, kita sudah diciptakan sebagai pribadi yang sempurna, yaitu segambar dan serupa dengan Allah (Kejadian 1:26). Adam dan Hawa diciptakan sebagai seorang sahabat dan hidup tanpa kepura-puraan. Mereka tidak malu, padahal mereka telanjang! Mereka menerima satu dengan lainnya sebagaimana adanya dan bebas untuk mengasihi dan dikasihi. Dosalah yang membuat relasi sempurna antarmanusia itu menjadi rusak.

    Kesempurnaan persahabatan berikutnya dapat kita temukan dalam diri Kristus. Dia menyebut kita ini sahabat-Nya (Yohanes 15:15). Semua itu Ia buktikan dengan mati bagi kita, sahabat-sahabat-Nya (Yohanes 15:13). Bahkan, Dia mati ketika kita dalam keadaan masih berdosa (Roma 5:8). Luar biasa, bukan? Di dalam Kristus, kita diterima dan dikasihi tanpa syarat.

    Membangun dan Menikmati Persahabatan

    Jika Allah telah menciptakan manusia dengan sempurna dan Kristus sudah memulihkan gambar diri kita di hadapan Allah, maukah kita memulihkan relasi kita dengan sahabat-sahabat kita? Sebenarnya, bagaimana cara kita bisa membangun persahabatan yang sejati dan menikmati relasi di dalamnya? Beberapa poin berikut ini mungkin bisa membantu kita melihat kualitas persahabatan yang selama ini kita bangun.

    1. Seorang sahabat sejati selalu berkomunikasi.

    Bagaimana selama ini kita berkomunikasi dengan sahabat kita? Jika selama ini kita berkomunikasi dengan menceritakan atau menanyakan kejadian-kejadian yang kita alami, komunikasi yang kita jalani sebenarnya hanya di permukaan saja. Tingkatan komunikasi yang lebih dalam terjadi ketika kita sudah mulai berbagi perasaan, harapan, ketakutan, dan rahasia kita yang sebenarnya.

    2. Persahabatan sejati itu memiliki kecocokan.

    Hampir semua persahabatan dimulai karena adanya kecocokan. Kecocokan ini bisa dimulai dari kesamaan hobi dan minat hingga kesamaan keinginan dan harapan ke depan. Namun, hal utama yang menimbulkan kecocokan sebenarnya adalah adanya kesamaan dalam hal keyakinan dan pendirian. Seorang sahabat dapat membangun keyakinan iman kita yang benar, atau justru sebaliknya. Jadi, dalam hal ini berhati-hatilah supaya persahabatan tidak merusak karakter kita yang baik. Sebab, pergaulan yang buruk merusakkan kebiasaan yang baik (1 Korintus 15:33).

    3. Seorang sahabat sejati membangun dan memperkaya.

    Apa motivasi kita dalam membangun persahabatan? Seorang sahabat sejati berfokus untuk mengasihi dan terus membangun sahabatnya. Sifat membangun di sini dapat berarti pribadi yang memberi dorongan, dukungan, dan kekuatan yang membangun sahabatnya. Sebagai seorang sahabat Kristen, kita bisa menjadi "cermin" satu sama lain agar dapat terus saling mendorong untuk mengenal Kristus dan bertumbuh di dalam-Nya. Kita tertawa dan menangis bersama (Amsal 17:17), kita menjadi rekan untuk mengembangkan talenta (Amsal 27:17), dan kita saling memberikan nasihat yang melegakan jiwa (Amsal 27:9).

    4. Seorang sahabat sejati mau menerima dan dapat dipercaya.

    Sebuah perasaan diterima sangat diperlukan dalam persahabatan. Ketika kita merasa diterima, kita bersedia menceritakan semua perasaan kita yang paling jujur. Oleh karena itu, seorang sahabat sejati mau menerima sahabatnya apa adanya dan dia juga dapat dipercaya, bukannya menjadi penggosip dan menceritakan semua kekurangan atau keburukan sahabatnya (Amsal 16:28).

    5. Seorang sahabat sejati bersedia berkorban.

    Teladan pengorbanan terbesar dapat kita peroleh dari Tuhan Yesus Kristus. Di dalam Kristus, kita memiliki hati yang melayani. Begitu juga kepada para sahabat kita. Dalam sebuah persahabatan, kita mungkin hanya memikirkan keuntungan apa yang bisa kita dapatkan dari persahabatan itu. Namun, kadang sesuatu yang berharga ditentukan oleh seberapa jauh kita mau berkorban untuk orang lain. Dan, Kristus sudah membayar harga yang mahal agar bisa bersahabat dengan kita (Yohanes 15:12-13).

    6. Seorang sahabat sejati itu jujur.

    Sebagai sahabat sejati, kita rela menyatakan dengan sejujurnya siapa kita di dalam Kristus. Belajarlah untuk mengungkapkan perasaan dan pemikiran Anda secara jujur. Kadang, kita tidak mau jujur karena takut ditolak. Namun, jika sahabat kita itu tidak bersedia menerima keyakinan kita, dia bukanlah sahabat sejati.

    7. Seorang sahabat sejati mau mengampuni.

    Sifat mengampuni mungkin bukanlah hal yang mudah untuk kita lakukan, bahkan sebagai orang Kristen. Kematian Kristus merupakan bukti pengampunan paling agung yang pernah kita alami. Saat sahabat kita bersalah dan mungkin sudah datang untuk meminta maaf, kadang kita tidak dapat segera mengampuninya. Namun, Kristus telah mati ketika kita masih dalam keadaan berdosa (Roma 5:8). Dia sudah mengampuni kita, bahkan sebelum kita yang bersalah ini menyadari kesalahan kita dan datang kepada-Nya untuk memohon pengampunan. Bagaimana dengan kita? Bersediakah kita saling mengampuni dalam menjalin persahabatan?

    So, selamat menikmati persahabatanmu! Di dalam Yesus, ada kasih yang melimpah. Sekarang, saatnya kita membagikannya juga kepada orang lain. Coz, friendship is sip!
